Locality summit of Sam's Throne, proposed Lava Butte RNA, ca. 13 miles SE of Riggins. 
Ecology substrate granite, S-facing slope, shallow soils among boulders; associated with Penstemon fruticosus, Polemonium pulcherrimum, Luzula hitchcockii, Vaccinium scoparium.
