Specimen Notes Voucher specimen: plant associated with Arctomecon humilis study - Dr. Renee Van Buren, Dr. Kimball T. Harper; intermediate to A. ampullarioides (Welsh) Welsh, this is the common variant growing on the hills between Pine Valley Mts and the Beaver Dam Mts., It is a morphologically similar variant sometimes growing peripheral to the Chinle Formation usually in Moenkopi clays, with flowers identical to that of A. ampullarioides (ochroleucous) and pods only slightly less inflated, A. eremiticus var. eremiticus grows in limestone washes, has deep purple flowers, and the least inflated pods in this sp. complex, det J. Alexander 2008.
